Pix API: what you can do and how to use it with AI agents

The Pix API is the specification set by Brazil's central bank (Banco Central) so that banks and payment institutions can offer Pix charges and lookups programmatically. Pix is Brazil's instant payment system. Companies use the API to generate charges with a QR code and to reconcile received payments automatically. Access is always through the company's bank or payment service provider (PSP), with the account's credentials and certificate.

API guide

What the Pix API offers

Immediate charge

Creating charges with an amount and an identifier, which generate a QR code and a copy-and-paste code.

Charge with due date

Charges with a due date, interest, fine and discount, in the style of a boleto (Brazilian bank payment slip).

Received Pix lookup

Listing and querying the Pix payments that came into the account, with the transaction identifier.

Refunds

Requesting a full or partial refund of a received Pix.

Webhooks

Notification to the company's system when a Pix is received on the registered key.

Payload locations

Management of the addresses used for dynamic QR codes.

How to access the Pix API

  • With your company’s credentialsEach bank or PSP defines the access, but the standard is OAuth 2.0 with client credentials and a digital certificate (mTLS) issued for the company's account.
  • The certificate and credentials give access to the account: restrict who can manage them and renew them before they expire.
  • Each bank has request limits and particulars beyond the central bank's standard.
  • Outgoing movements must always have human approval and a value ceiling.

What an iTeam agent does with the Pix API

WhatsApp charge with automatic write-off

The agent generates the Pix charge, sends the copy-and-paste code to the customer and, when the webhook confirms payment, writes it off in the ERP and says thanks.

Daily reconciliation

The agent matches received Pix payments against open receivables and lists the unidentified payments for finance.

Refund with approval

Reversal requests reach the agent, which checks the payment and prepares the refund; it is executed only after a responsible person approves.

Collecting overdue items

For late receivables, the agent generates a Pix with a due date already carrying the policy's interest and fine, and follows up until payment.

From the credential to the agent at work, with approval

01

Enable the API at your bank

Ask the bank or PSP for access to the Pix API, generate the client ID, secret and application certificate, and register the Pix key that will receive.

02

Keep credentials and certificate in the vault

iTeam stores credentials and certificate in the vault; reading and generating charges can be automatic, while refunds require approval.

03

Test in the sandbox

Use the bank's sandbox environment, when available, validate the webhook and only then move to production with a value ceiling per operation.

Questions

Questions about the Pix API

Is the Pix API free?

It depends on the bank or PSP. The specification is public, but fees per charge or receipt and any access cost are set in the contract with the institution.

Do I need to write code to use the Pix API with iTeam?

Not necessarily. iTeam reads your bank's Pix API documentation and the deployment team sets up the routines; your team handles enabling access with the bank.

Does it work with any bank?

It works with institutions that offer the Pix API to companies. The differences between banks are handled in the configuration.
