Correios API: what you can do and how to use it with AI agents

Correios is the Brazilian postal service. Its API lets you look up shipping price and delivery time, track parcels and prepare shipments under the company's contract. Online stores, ERPs and logistics operations that ship with SEDEX and PAC use it. Access depends on a contract with Correios and on credentials generated for it.

What the Correios API offers

Tracking

Look up a parcel's events from its tracking code, from acceptance to delivery.

Price and delivery time

Calculate cost and delivery time by service, origin and destination postal code, weight and dimensions.

Pre-posting

Register shipments in advance, with sender, recipient and service data.

Labels

Generate the labels and parcel codes used at posting.

Postal code lookup

Find an address from its postal code to validate delivery data.

Contract services

Look up the services enabled in the contract and the service points.

How to access the Correios API

  • With your company’s credentialsAccess uses the Correios portal user linked to the contract and an API access code, exchanged for a token with limited validity. The services available depend on what the contract enables.
  • The token expires: iTeam renews it automatically, but revoked credentials stop the lookups.
  • Recipient data is personal: only the logistics agent should see it in full (LGPD, Brazil's data-protection law).
  • Respect the contract's query limits and avoid tracking the same parcel several times a day.

What an iTeam agent does with the Correios API

Order stuck at a distribution center

The agent scans parcels in transit and picks out those with no new event for days. The logistics team gets a list with the last event and the matching order.

Shipping chosen by margin

When quoting for a B2B customer, the agent compares SEDEX and PAC for the postal code and volume and suggests the cheapest service that meets the agreed deadline.

Batch pre-posting

Orders invoiced in the ERP become pre-postings with data checked by the agent. An incomplete address or a mismatched postal code goes to review before the label.

Lost-parcel claim

When tracking shows a parcel as not located, the agent gathers the code, invoice and recipient data and prepares the claim for the responsible person to submit.

From the credential to the agent at work, with approval

01

Generate the access code in the Correios portal

Using the contract user, the owner generates the API access code and confirms which services are enabled.

02

Register it in the iTeam vault

User, code and posting card go in the vault. Each agent gets only what it needs: tracking for support, pre-posting for logistics.

03

Test with approval

The first tracking lookups and quotes run in read-only mode. Pre-postings start with human approval until the team trusts the flow.

Questions

Questions about the Correios API

Is the Correios API free?

Generally, API use is tied to the company's contract with Correios: you pay for the postal services, not for the lookup itself. Confirm the terms of your contract.

Do I need to code to use the Correios API with iTeam?

Not necessarily. iTeam's HTTP tool reads the API documentation and the deployment team sets up the flows with you.

Can I use the API without a contract?

Single-parcel tracking exists on the website, but integrating through the API requires a credential linked to a contract.
