Mercado Livre API: what you can do and how to use it with AI agents
The Mercado Livre API gives programmatic access to a seller account: listings, orders, buyer questions, shipments and post-sale messages. Sellers, integrators and ERPs that run volume on the marketplace use it. (Outside Brazil the marketplace is called Mercado Libre.) Access works through an app registered on the developer portal and authorized by the seller account.
What the Mercado Livre API offers
Items and listings
Create, edit, pause and query listings, with price, stock, attributes and categories.
Orders
List and read sales, with items, buyer, payment and the status of each order.
Questions and answers
Read the questions asked on listings and post answers on behalf of the seller.
Shipping
Read Mercado Envios shipment data, tracking and labels for orders.
Post-sale messages
Exchange messages with the buyer inside an order.
Notifications
Receive alerts at a callback URL when orders, questions or item changes appear.
How to access the Mercado Livre API
- With your company’s credentialsOAuth 2.0: you create an app on the developer portal, the seller authorizes access, and the integration receives an access token that is renewed periodically.
- Respect the request limits and use notifications instead of polling orders all the time.
- Buyer data is personal data: keep only what you need and follow Brazil's data-protection law (LGPD) and the marketplace rules.
- Price and stock changes affect sales immediately, so keep those actions behind approval.

What an iTeam agent does with the Mercado Livre API
Answer buyer questions
The agent reads the question, checks the spec sheet and stock, and drafts the answer. Questions about delivery time or warranty go through approval before they are published.
Reconcile sales with the ERP
Every day the agent matches marketplace orders against issued invoices and payments received, and posts in Teams what is left without an invoice or without a payment entry.
Watch for problem listings
The agent finds listings that are paused, out of stock or priced outside policy, and opens a task for the sales team.
Post-sale and shipping delays
When a shipment stalls, the agent messages the buyer with the tracking link and logs the case so support can follow it.
From the credential to the agent at work, with approval
Create the app on Mercado Livre
On the developer portal, register an app with the callback URL provided by iTeam and select only the permissions the agent will use.
Authorize and store the token in the vault
The seller account authorizes the app. The token stays in the iTeam vault, and each agent gets only the allowed actions, such as reading orders or answering questions.
Test with human approval
The first days run with approval on every answer and listing change, with a cost cap and an audit trail per action.

Questions about the Mercado Livre API
Is the Mercado Livre API free?
In general, using the API carries no separate charge for the seller. You pay the normal Mercado Livre selling fees. Check the current terms on the developer portal.
Do I need to code to use the Mercado Livre API with iTeam?
Not necessarily. iTeam's HTTP tool reads the API documentation and learns the endpoints, and the deployment team sets up credentials, permissions and tests with you.
Can I receive orders in real time through the Mercado Livre API?
Yes. The API sends notifications to a URL registered in the app when there are orders, questions or changes, and the agent then fetches the details.
